Our work in Tanzania

Nations Together, a community well-being organisation in Tanzania, provides a safe and welcoming space for people of all ages and with a range of disabilities to feel accepted, included, and able to enjoy themselves.

Our activity centre is open five days a week. Each day begins with one of our support workers using hired transport to collect the service users attending, whether they live in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro or on the Rundugai Maasai plains.

At the activity centre, everyone is welcomed with a drink and snack before taking part in activities such as art, music, dance, and sport. A nutritious lunch is then provided.

We provide person-centred support tailored to each individual’s needs and abilities, encouraging independence and new experiences while taking a positive approach to risk.

We care for everyone in the Nations Together family and do our best to help with healthcare, food supplies, and any unmet needs arising from personal circumstances.

Our staff team is dedicated and caring, and they provide outstanding support to the young people we work with. Volunteers often comment on the positive and enjoyable atmosphere, and the feedback from parents and young people reflects the quality of care we provide.

We also offer support and training to parents and caregivers, and many parents serve on the Community Well-Being Organisation’s board as trustees or members.

Our teams in both the UK and Tanzania stay in regular contact, ensuring we remain informed and connected.
